Jacobson Group, Manchester

Jacobson Group is Britain’s largest importer and distributor of footwear. As part of their expansion process they purchased Werneth Mill – a large site consisting of two interconnecting mills. The mill had an old inefficient steam heating system that was to be decommissioned and replaced as part of their investment and renovation of the site. Having already designed and installed a warm air heating system in another mill for the Jacobson Group in 1996, Walker Adamson were again invited to tender for the project. After being successful we undertook the installation between August and October 2005.

The scope of work consisted of:

• Installing 30 Benson high efficiency suspended warm air heaters to provide both frost protection and full working temperature throughout the different areas in the mill.
• Installing a condensing boiler central heating system throughout the offices.
• Installing a new gas main and gas meter into the mill, all internal gas pipework and installing electrical supplies to each appliance.
• The system was designed by Walker Adamson Ltd. and the project was successfully completed inside a 10 week period.
